Dispensing medicines

Dispensing both NHS and Private (chargeable) prescriptions as efficiently and safely as possible. Holding a wide range medication but if we don't keep it in stock we will ensure we can order the medicine as quick as possible.

Discharge Medicines Service

Discharge medicines play a crucial role in the transition of patients from hospital to home. In a pharmacy setting, it is essential to ensure that patients receive clear instructions regarding their medications, including the correct dosages, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence to their prescribed regimen. Pharmacists are instrumental in reviewing and verifying discharge prescriptions, providing counselling to patients and their families, and addressing any concerns that may arise during this critical time. Ultimately, well-managed discharge medicines contribute to improved patient outcomes and reduced re-admission rates.

Disposal of unwanted medicines

Disposal of unwanted medicines, including expired medications, is a crucial aspect of responsible pharmacy practice. It is essential to ensure that these pharmaceuticals do not end up in regular waste streams, which can pose significant risks to the environment and public health. Patients should return unused or out-of-date medicines for safe disposal to prevent accidental ingestion and misuse, as well as minimise contamination of water supplies. It is also important to return used or unwanted inhalers to help the environment.

Healthy Living Pharmacies

We understand that local health concerns are paramount in maintaining the well-being of our community. With the rise of issues such as obesity, diabetes, and mental health challenges, our pharmacy is committed to offering advice and support for these pressing matters. We provide a range of services, from nutritional consultations to mental health resources, ensuring that every individual receives the personalised care they deserve. By promoting healthy lifestyles and accessible healthcare solutions, we aim to empower our community to take charge of their health and make informed decisions.

Support for self care

We promote and give advice for self-care among individuals. By offering accessible health information, advice on over-the-counter remedies, and guidance on managing minor ailments, our staff empower patients to take an active role in their own well-being. This support not only enhances the understanding of personal health conditions but also fosters a sense of independence. Ultimately, the pharmacy's commitment to self-care is vital in creating a healthier, more informed community.

Repeat Dispensing and eRD

Repeat dispensing is a pharmacy service in the UK that allows patients to receive regular medications without the need for a new prescription each time. This system is designed for patients who require ongoing treatment for chronic conditions, enabling them to manage their medications more conveniently. With repeat dispensing, a prescriber issues a batch of prescriptions for a specified period, which patients can then collect from their pharmacy upon request.

Flu Vaccination Service

Flu vaccination is available for both NHS and private patients. At risk groups are able to have free vaccinations during the Flu season period. We aim to make the process quick and efficient for patient. Booking can be made in-store or via the NHS website.

We offer free blood pressure checks for over 40s not currently on any blood pressure medication. The aim of this service is to facilitate early detection of hypertension. This helps identify at-risk patients who may not be aware of their condition. This proactive approach not only empowers individuals to take charge of their health but also helps to alleviate the burden on primary care services. Patients can also ask there GP practice to make a referral to the pharmacy if they are already on blood pressure medication but have some concerns.

We also offer blood pressure checks for individuals who have some concerns but these are not part of the official NHS Service.

New Medicine Service (NMS)

The aim of this service is to support patients starting new medications. This service provides tailored advice and information to ensure that individuals understand their prescriptions, potential side effects, and how to take their medicines effectively.

In order to allow patients to feel comfortable and knowledgeable about the taking the new medication. Within the first 3 weeks our pharmacists will contact the patient twice to make sure everything is ok and can discuss any concerns or questions, and if necessary can contact the GP to review the medication.

Smoking Cessation Service (SCS)

We work with Sefton Stop Smoking Service to provide essential support for individuals looking to quit smoking. We understand the challenges faced during the quitting process, our team can guide patients through behavioural strategies, recommend nicotine replacement therapies, and provide ongoing encouragement.
